The Fog Bell - update

The renovation of the Marshside Fog
Bell is now well under way.
The building is now owned by ‘One
Vision Housing’ which took over the
former Council houses some time ago.
They are fully supportive of our
intentions to make the building an
information and educational centre.
They have agreed, and have started,
to repair the exterior of the building.
Several students from Stanley High
Sports College who are taking their
Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
spent a day weeding, cutting hedges
and tidying up the area removing 16
bags of rubbish. They have also
sanded and varnished the benches.
Early next year pupils from Marshside
Primary School will be designing,
making and fixing mosaic panels at
the back of the seats. These panels
will depict local history scenes.
The
bare patch which was once planted
with shrubs will be turned into a
pebble pavement. |
