Bringing life into the park

The Group was formed in June 2008 as an initiative by Sefton Leisure Department to involve the public in the running of local parks and open spaces. There had been a Friends group for several years but had lost some of its impetus and had gradually lost some of its support.

The Action Group started with people who had a vested interest in the park, concessionaires, members of the various clubs and local societies including the North Meols Civic Society.

As the Gardens are a Conservation Area the Civic Society took the new Group under its wing so that it became a sub- group of the Society. This enables the Group to have the backup of a national organisation, the Civic Trust for its activities.

Aims

The aims of the Group are to bring about improvements to the Gardens, to staff, manage and organise events, to source and raise funds and to develop ideas to improve the park.

The main objective is to conserve the heritage of the gardens and promote its future.
