“Working together for an even better park”
Aims
- To ensure that the Local Authority continue to maintain the park to a very high standard.
- To identify areas that need to be improved.
- To lobby Leisure Services to carry out the required improvements
- Where local authority finance is not available the Action Group will seek to source external funding such as grants. This could be Lottery Grants or other grant gifting bodies
- The Group will also work together with the Park Management team and the contractor, English Landscapes to carry out planning, clearing, and planting of identified areas that have been neglected.
- The Action group will also help to plan, organise and staff new events in the park.
Priorities
- Upgrade the toilets. Funding has been promised from Meols Ward Councillors of £500 towards improving the facilities to bring them to a more hygienic level. Some of the work will be carried out by Action Group members.
- Planting of barren areas mainly in the area near to the bowling greens.
- Fund raise for a new band or performance area. This has already received a donation of £500.
- Investigate and tackle problems with flooding of pathways and the need for some resurfacing.
- Explore possible solutions to the problems with the lake including rubbish removal and stagnation.
- Replace the fountain in the terrace gardens in front of the Fernery.
We invite members of the public to join us. We need people from differing walks of life and experience. There will be a place for everyone.
With such a long list of items to tackle we will not achieve them all in a short space of time. We are in it for the ‘long haul’!
